Cynthia's solid gold Celtic stater of the Ambiani tribe dating circa 50 BC depicting one of Crazy horse's ancestors. You only had to ask!
Cynthia was the only tour member who believed us when we suggested asking Crazy Horse where the gold is buried.

Cynthia  horsing around! She wasn’t the only one laughing when on her  first detecting trip with us and only her second signal in England Cynthia found this lovely Celtic gold stater!

Big Jim of the Shoreseekers with another 'Greenie' a halfpenny of King George 1 dating 1721
Jim T Snr thought prayer might help and sure enough he was rewarded with these two rare gold coins on two consecutive trips

Jim T Snr, a seasoned veteran detectorist certainly knows how to winkle out those gold coins! His first vacation with England Detecting Tours was a great success with a lovely gold Hammered coin but Jim’s second tour was as good with a great coin of George 11, a rare gold half sovereign!

HENRY V QUARTER NOBLE
George 11 half sovereign dated 1733 found on tour in 2006

The Shoreseekers brought along their Grand Master hunter Jim Snr to show us Brits how to do it properly.

"Great finds, great fun, great friends! Pete(r) and his team went out of their way to make sure that our detecting holiday was first-rate. From vast hunt fields brimming with historic finds to entertaining sightseeing excursions, they made sure our time in England was the absolute best."

Pete was extremely helpful, and I am so happy with the outcome I received from Weekend Wanderers. I wish all businesses would treat their customers as professionally and respectfully as you do, and I will be sure to recommend you to all my associates. Thanks again for your help

MEDIEVAL CROTAL BELL

Silver penny of King Henry 111 dating 1216-1272 AD

We organized a special trip  for the Shoreseekers to historic Chenies Manor in the closed season. By private arrangement with the owner they visited the Tudor Mansion that was once the home of Henry VIII when he was ill. The rooms at Chenies are furnished just as they were back in Tudor times with furniture, tapestries and materials from the period. The owner of Chenies kindly arranged an English tea and cakes for the group after their tour around the mansion. A lovely sunny spring day was ideal for taking the group’s picture in front of the mansion.

"This was our third trip with Pete and his crew which are the most helpful and wonderful people you could hope to be with. They will go far beyond the call of duty to make sure your well taken care of. Fields full of history await your every turn, finds are quickly identified and explained in a way that makes even the smallest item a unique piece of British history. Try and get to a Weekend Wanderers Club hunt and meet some of England's best detectorists. From the food to the historic surroundings to the site seeing adventures it's a time you'll never forget, and when it's time to leave and come home you'll already be planning for next years return. When departing from this trip it's like your leaving part of your family behind."

This will be our third trip to the UK. From the first trip everything kept getting better. Peter, Sarah, Alan and Neville are the most outstanding people to have as our counterparts in their beautiful country. They had shown our group to great fields where every time it was like Christmas. Each dig was like opening a new present with the joy of whatever was to be found from as small as a chunk of iron to gold or silver. They looked for unique places for us to hunt. I would highly recommend them. Even the ones from our group who didn’t hunt and went on sightseeing tours had the most wonderful times and guidance from this group of people. I am proud to know such a kind and generous group of people. Words can not describe the thrill when we plan to visit their country.

Team Building Event – HAMPSHIRE 1st September 2006

On the 1st September 2006 we arranged a metal detecting team building Event with the Weekend Wanderers on farm land in Hampshire.  There was a group of 12 of us, 11 of which had not been detecting before, but all were very keen to give it a try.

The event organiser Peter Welch, his wife Sarah, together with additional marshals, met up with us at the pre-defined location at 9am. Peter briefed us on the history of the area, which was very interesting, and provided each of us with a map of our designated search area. We were then escorted to the site, which was only 5 minutes drive away.

Metal Detectors, finds pouches and suitable digging tools were all included as part of the package. Instruction was given regarding the treasure act and what to do in an emergency. All participants were also given individual lessons on how to use the detectors. We had organised a roadside picnic, but if we had chosen to do so, a buffet would have been organised for us.Throughout the event, Peter’s team were always available to provide helpful advice, but were never intrusive, which was appreciated by all of us

After a good days detecting, some nice finds were made: Short cross silver hammered and milled coins, together with some Roman bronzes too. The whole team had an extremely enjoyable day, which was very well organised, and good value for money.  I and the rest of my colleagues highly recommend, Peter and the Weekend Wanderers for organising such events for other corporate organisations and groups, and wish to thank him and his team for a great day out.All we need to do now is find a good excuse to organise another event.
