For the most part, tour members prefer to make every day count so go out all day detecting. Saying that, tour members or their non-detecting other halves sometimes request time out to go sightseeing so we may be able to arrange something to suit your needs.
We can be flexible as long as the whole group agrees on where and when to do a sightseeing day. Non-detecting tour members may wish to visit London and need a lift to the train station and we will be glad to assist. A suggested example of a day out may be to see the world famous Stonehenge then later to see the awe inspiring Salisbury Cathedral with it’s wonderful Chapter House and King John’s Magna Carta. About 1 hrs drive from the hotel. N.B. Ask for prices of excursion.
We have chosen a friendly family run hotel that is perfect for you detecting stay; a place with an easy, welcoming atmosphere where you can feel at home & relax.

If eating in, you have a good selection of well priced meals including vegetarian in the hotel’s newly refurbished Burgundy room or in the less formal Green room. You also have a licensed bar & lounge sometimes with live music. Internet access is available in the bar area.
Your accommodation is conveniently located within easy walking distance to a variety of restaurants and pubs in a delightfully pretty town full of fascinating historic buildings. From here you will be able to discover the best of the English countryside & explore the many different walks along country lanes and streams.
The night before departure day, we all meet up again for a farewell meal and drink at the hotel. As you may have an early start in the morning, please take time to check out at reception the day before departure too.
On your last day, we take you to the airport where we will see you safely to your terminal in plenty of time to catch your flight home.
We hope you have had a great tour with us and book again next year!
When you book you flights.
Please ensure that your airline’s destination is London Heathrow airport (LHR). Arrival times are on Friday mornings typically 07.00 - 8.00am. Departure times are on a Sunday, ten days later.
Ideally your airline will come in at the new Terminal 5 at LHR and this is where we will be waiting for you, at arrivals in the new terminal’s building. You will easily find us as we will be wearing Weekend Wanderers T-shirts. If you arrive at a different terminal there is an interconnecting shuttle to T5.
The drive from the airport to your hotel is about 60 minutes or so depending on traffic. Once we get to the hotel and signed in, we show you your rooms where you can unpack and freshen up. After lunch we make the most of your arrival day by getting you out detecting right away. .
